Larry Kramer’s “THE NORMAL HEART”

Finally, Larry Kramer’s landmark play is on Broadway! With the exceptional writing, superb cast led by Joe Mantello and John Benjamin Hickey, direction and technical aspect, this play is still as potent as it was when it opened in 1985.  The topic is as relevant today as it was yesterday.

Having seen this a couple of times, I found myself still in tears at the end when Mantello as Ned Weeks and Hickey’s Felix are getting married as Felix is about to die of AIDS.  Joe Mantello is just perfect as Ned Weeks!  Too bad, he only went down up to his black briefs when Dr. Emma was examining him. He didn’t even take off his tank top.  (Unlike Esparza’s Public Theater revival where his character showed his ass).

But either way, this play is a MUST-SEE!

  1. Just saw this yesterday in NY. What an amazing and powerful play. The performances were inspiring, especially Joe Mantello, Ellen Barkin, and John Benjamin Hickey. The audience gave an instant standing ovation and it was well deserved.
