Gallery Players presents Equus as the next production of its 47th Season. Alfred Gingold* (Manhattan Theatre Club, Metropolitan Playhouse), leads the cast in the behemoth role of Martin Dysart. Joining him are Dean Thomas and Adelind Horan as Alan Strang and Jill Mason, respectively, in their Gallery premieres.
Tickets are $18 for Adults, $14 for senior citizens and children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased 24/7 online at www.galleryplayers.com or by calling OvationTix at 212-352-3101 (phone hours 9-9 weekdays, 10-6 weekends). Equus contains strong language and nudity and is recommended for mature audiences only. Equus is an Actors Equity Association approved showcase.
As the boy who has explosively blinded six horses, Alan Strang is met by psychologist Dr. Martin Dysart, who seeks not only to understand the act itself, but the passion behind it. As he explores, he must surface many mysterious twists and turns inside Alan’s head -the contrasting religious and secular influence of his parents, his desire to understand his own sexuality, his love for everything equine. However, in the ultimate confrontation, Dysart faces his own passionate pitfall head on. Boasting a magnificent slate of actors and highly original design, Gallery’s Equus is guaranteed to have audiences on the edge of their seat until the last second.
