As you may have heard by now , this year’s annual Torn Out summer show has been postponed.
From their press release:
To our wonderful audiences and community:
In recent weeks, several members of our company have experienced major, unexpected, life events – deaths, illnesses, relationships ending. We believe that to be body-positive is to value self-care, and right now, we need to take some time away to better serve the work going forward. We will not be on social media, answering emails, or otherwise online during this time. We will be back on August 8, 2019.
Thank you for supporting our work. We are heartened by your love and enthusiasm for theater and body positivity. At this time, we ask for your compassion and patience as we take some time to contemplate the next steps in our commitment to performances that explore bodies, gender, and sexuality. We hope you’ll be just as excited as we are about all the new directions we’ll be going and old favorites we’ll be revisiting. For now, however, we are announcing a one-month sabbatical for the entire Torn Out Theater company.
This means we will be rescheduling (and possibly re-imagining) our summer show, Mere Flesh & Blood. The show will no longer be August 8-11 in Prospect Park. Any updates on the project will come by way of this email list and our Instagram feed. Thank you so much for your support. We love our community, and we will miss you while we’re away, but we promise exciting things for Torn Out this fall and beyond.
Here’s hoping a staging of MERE FLESH AND BLOOD before the summer is over.
